Current Opening: Development Analyst

Purpose

To provide development and maintenance support for applications prioritized by IT Leadership, the Business Units and the Steering Committee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develops system applications with minimal supervision that meet business requirements. (75%)

  • Codes to technical specs.
  • Unit tests code to an acceptable defect level prior to handoff to UAT.
  • Works with minimal supervision on small to medium projects.
  • Takes direction from project team and balances priorities with team lead or senior developer.
  • Contributes to development and project team meetings.
  • Accurately estimates time and level of effort for assigned tasks.
  • Meets agreed upon timelines.
  • Interacts with users and project management teams in a professional manner.

 Performs special projects as needed. (20%)

  • Creates technical documentation at an application level.
  • Works with Ops Team as needed.

Enhances company performance by providing exceptional associate performance. (5%)

  • Employee development through active participation in educational opportunities, both technical and business opportunities.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (including experience and education)

Knowledge –

  • Expert knowledge of at least one and a working knowledge of at least one of the following - Visual Basic, .NET, JAVA, ColdFusion, Oracle, PL/SQL or Crystal Reports.

Skills –

  • Expertise in software development life cycle.
  • Expertise in a minimum of one development methodology (RUP, XP, Agile Development, etc). 
  • Understanding of multi-tier and Internet architectures and concepts. 
  • Proven experience working successfully on application development project teams.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, organization, time management and communication skills.
  • Availability on site (in Des Moines office) during core IT hours (currently 9:00 am – 3:00 pm). 
  • Availability to work during off peak work hours, when necessary, to insure smooth operations during office hours. 

Education –

  • Four-year college level education, or equivalent combination of education, experience and formal training in IT or a related field. 

Experience –

  • Minimum of 4 years of application development or related IT experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Associations, etc. –

  • None required.
